Boosters

Out of the blue this weekend I decided I'm done with high chairs.  The kids climb up on the kitchen chairs all of the time.  If we forget to put a high chair tray back on, they climb up in their high chairs & try to break their necks.  They take up our entire dining room.  I'm tired of washing 3 trays all day long.  They sit pretty nice at the table other places, on the rare occasion that we go anywhere.  So I decided its booster seat time at this house.  I'm ready to have a dining room table back.  And it was just time for something different.

Our space saver high chairs did not fit well under our table.  The kids had to sit too far back from the table because the bars that hold the tray hit the table.  Didn't work well.
So we bought some little cheapo boosters at Walmart.  {Meaning I have 3 space saver high chairs for sale... any takers?}  So far its going ok, but with everything new & novel, it takes time to perfect.  They love their new chairs & want in them all the time.  I'm glad they like them.  And we are trying to learn to eat with plates now.  Which goes ok if they are really hungry & we have something they really like to eat.  Otherwise, plates get tipped over a lot.  But we're working on it.  Despite picking up spilled plates, so far clean-up times seems to be shortened.  Thrown food usually just ends up on the other side of the table vs on the floor.  We just have to wipe down one big table rather than clean 3 individual trays.  If we can just master the plate thing.... this will be a great change for us.

I also need to buy some more kiddie plates.  We haven't really used plates much thus far, just eaten off high chair trays.  Suggestions on your favorite type of plates?  Plain round basic?  Ones with divided sections?  What works best?

  1. I say go for the plates with the sections they were great with all 5 of my kids, that way you can put say goldfish crackers in one spot and fruit in another without the crackers getting soggy.... dont bother with the plates that suction to the table LOL they dont work

  2. I personally don't like the divided ones because they are a pain in the neck to stack and store in the cupboards...so plain round was it for us! Love the boosters, isn't it so freeing!? :) Cute cute cute kiddos!

  3. I really like the Ikea plastic plates and LOVE their utensils. I don't have the divided ones either and Braden just "disorganizes" them anyway. Agreed with Veronica's suction plate suggestion...your kids are smart and it doesn't take much to learn how to un-suction them!
