BARF!!!

So randomly Tuesday when Livi woke up, she had puked in bed.  She had an iffy morning, but seemed fine by evening.  Considered it a fluke.

So we hit up Vala's on Wednesday.  Had a blast & while I was blogging about it after the kids were in bed (I'll get it posted later).... all hell broke loose.  Puking rally!

It all started:  Hayden was crying in bed, so I went to check on him & discovered puke everywhere in his bed.  Jeff got up to clean up the mess & I took Hayden to clean him up.  We got that all settled.  Then him & I were snuggling on the couch... and he proceeded to puke again.  All over both of us.  As I was in the bathroom trying to clean him & I up, Livi was screaming for her lovie.  I left Hayden in the bathroom, tub water running, I went in to toss her her lovie... and when I found it, it was covered in puke!  I turned on the lights, and discovered Logan sitting up in his bed, with a blank stare on his face, also covered in puke!  WTF?!  What is going on here?  Nightmare!

I got the kids cleaned.  Jeff got their room cleaned up.  (God I love him!!!)  We put them back to bed... and it wasn't but 5 minutes later.  More puke.  Ok... light bulb parents.... we've got a problem here.  So we moved us all to the living room to try to confine our disaster.  And from there, between 3 tots there passed HOURS, literally HOURS & HOURS where someone was puking almost non-stop!  Every pillow, pillowcase, sheet, blanket, towel & lovie in this house was puked on.  I lost track counting how many times I changed clothes.

Everytime someone would puke... Livi would stand there & say "owie."  And when we asked her if she was OK, she replied "NO!"  She has been the least sick.  Hayden the sickest.  Poor, poor babies!!

A call in to the pedi 24 hour hotline, just because it seems odd they would literally all start puking within 15 minutes of eachother.  And a call into Jeff's work... because there is no way he's working in the morn.  He has midterms tomorrow... for his classes he is taking, so we have to get him some sleep & the upper hand on this situation by then.  Sweet timing kids.   No way they'll be going to daycare on Friday, so sounds like I'll be calling in sick this week too.

I learned that apparently 2 year olds don't know how to puke.  They tilt their head back... not forward.  I kept thinking someone was going to choke.  And the poor things were terrified!!  {Can't say I've ever held a puking person & been kissing the back of their head & cheek while they puked before.}  And you obviously can't yell at them to run to the bathroom.  We ended up just keeping a pile of towels handy, just caught it each time in a towel.  Or most times.  We got the hang of their "signs" that it was coming mid way through the hours.  And we're doing laundry, laundry, laundry!!!  I ran out of laundry soap.  I had no carpet cleaner.  OMG!

Finally, calm.  They all fell asleep on the living room floor with Jeff & my extra bed sheets covering the floor.  So I ran to the store for pedialyte, carpet cleaner, & laundry soap.  They each got a good hour of sleep.  Then a little more barfing after I got home.  Now their stomaches are empty & then some.  So while its seemingly worse for them to dry heave, as they seem more terrified & miseralbe when it happens....I'm feeling like I may actually be able to catch up on the mess someday?

I don't know if we have the flu, some other GI bug, if they ate something that didn't agree with them or what??  They didn't eat anything different that me & so far I'm ok.  So far!!  Its just odd that Livi had that episode on Tuesday, was fine all day today & now this?  Any way you look at it... this sucks!!

They are all back asleep now all over the living room floor, Jeff's alseep on the couch... so why am I up?  Trying to wait out this load of laundry so I can start another before I try to close my eyes.  Then only about 10 to go to catch up!  I just started dumping clean loads on my bedroom floor, all our laundry baskets are full.  There is a mountain in there.  Going to take me a week to fold it all!!  Then to deep clean the carpets.  Their room needs cleaned better.  Someone's toddler bed rail... the mesh... the puke.... thats all I'm going to say.

Last year their flu was out the other end.  I'd take that over barf anyday.  At least its usually partially contained!!

Here's to a little sleep.... and a better tomorrow.

  1. Oh no! You need bowls! The big tupperware ones. Grace still points out one orange one in particular that she puked in. Unless that grosses you out? :)

  2. Oh no! I hope they feel better soon. I can not even imagine dealing with all three of them puking. Eh. Not one of the highlights of parenting. Maybe you should call Grandpa Tom and Grandma Candy to come help. :-)

  3. You also inspired me to stock up on Pedialyte and chicken soup! We are in the depths of potty training, so I have the carpet cleaner and detergent well stocked. :-)

  4. Erika-Doesn't gross me out. But I don't think they would have actually hit it yet! We had a hard time keeping them from flailing around & barfing in every which direction. A towel we could keep wrapped close to their face. Maybe next year?? Or maybe we can go a year without?
